DAVID CAMERON and Boris Johnson have teamed up to persuade Twitter to set up shop in London, probably near the so-called ‘Silicon Roundabout’ at Old Street.

The social network company is on the look out for a European head quarters and such is the draw of the Twitter name that the Prime Minister and London Mayor entertained Twitter executives at a private bash in London last week.
“All that matters is that they come to London,” a source close to the PM told the Daily Telegraph.
“They met the Prime Minister and Boris Johnson, as well as advertising execs and key technology partners.”
One of the Twitter high-ups, Katie Jacobs Stanton, expressed her delight at the meeting via her own service.
“Hugely impressed with PM Cameron @MayorOfLondon & the @Number10gov teams,” she wrote.
Though Stanton and her colleagues are reported to have looked at properties in the Old Street area, it’s not game over as Twitter inc. have yet to visit some of London’s rivals.
“There were a few of us in London this week,” said a Twitter spokesperson.
“We are considering London and other European locations to create an initial and small presence in 2011.”
