“George O’Dowd, 47, a musician of Ravey Street, EC2, is charged with the false imprisonment of a 28-year-old in Ravey Street on April 28,” confirmed a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police.

“He has been bailed to return before Thames magistrates’ court on November 22.”

The man in question is Norwegian Auden Karlsen, who says he went to the DJ/singer’s flat for a photographic assignment only to be grabbed and tied up by George and another man.

“I was convinced I was going to die,” he said. He says he managed to get away by ripping off his chains from the wall.

Boy George was due in China for a DJ date two days after his next court appearance, but those plans are now in the balance. The maximum punishment for false imprisonment is life.
