Devil's GunRaising the Beast: Single released February 5th
"Pairs the energy and style of an early Basement Jaxx, but with a broader musical Palette" Music Week
In the summer of 2005 a new dynamic musical duo formed after a chance meeting between writers/producers Olly & Jay which then developed into long stints together in an East London studio, and the result Devils Gun.
The Duo's hard hitting productions provided a twisted amalgamation of Electro, Breakbeat, House and sleazy Synth-Rock which laid the foundations for the bands inception. Next came vocalists Jagga & Dominique, Jagga is resident MC for Anima Sound System in Budapest, playing to crowds in excess of 50,000 at all Hungary's major festivals. This year he was billed between Iggy Pop and Prodigy, last year it was Wu Tang Clan and Goldie. Dominique has written for and recorded with Paul Harris (Dirty Vegas), Dan Goldman (Morcheeba) and Cicada.
The band was finally completed with the introduction of Adam Hyde on guitar and Manumission resident percussionist Don Bastardo. Not content with the restrictions of the studio Devil's Gun hit the road with their live 6 piece stage show reaching the seedy, underground electro clubs in Shoreditch to the XFM stage at The Secret Garden Party. The reception they received could not have been better as they soon started to build up a very real following for their infectious tunes and high energy performances. 'Raising the Beast' is the debut single from Devil's Gun ahead of their first full length album due out early next year. The Original captures the essence of the groups sound perfectly although two extra mixes are thrown in for good measure including a great reworking by the Breakfastaz, with the ever so catchy hook throughout.
'We break it down, shake it down, take it down, something rising deep from underground' Raising The Beast.
As well as causing a stir with their live shows, an early demo began to circulate and their tracks were soon being championed by tastemaker DJ's such as Tall Paul, Eddy Temple Morris, Annie Nightingale and Dave Lambert on Kiss FM, XFM, Radio One and Virgin Radio. Having recently been compared to the mighty Basement Jaxx in the Music Week the future looks bright for a band that appeals to the generation who's insatiable appetite for both live performance and dance music needs to be satisfied.
