|Yorke Alarmed and Surprised by Blair's Spin Doctors
- Radiohead singer blames freaked-out illness on lead up to abandoned meeting with the PM
MORE trouble for Tony Blair - this time straight out of the world of music, from where Radiohead front man Thom Yorke has revealed he turned down the chance of meeting the Prime Minister thanks to the overbearing intervention of New Labour spin-doctors.
No alarms, no surprises on that front to most people, you'd think - it's not as if there is anyone left in the country ignorant of spin in politics - but Yorke was shocked, nonetheless. He was due to meet the PM to talk about matters environmental, but was amazed to discover Blair's advisors insisted on a 'talks about talks' deal.
"It was, 'If we could just have a meeting beforehand where we could go through how it would proceed," said Yorke, of the meeting scheduled for late last year.
"It was like talking to Blair's spin doctors. It was all getting weird. It was just obvious there was no point in meeting him anyway, and I didn't want to. That was the illest I'd ever got. I got so stressed out and so freaked out about it."
Presumably, Yorke's revelations are an example of his own spin doctors, the Karma Police, exacting their own brand of revenge.
