|Bloomsbury Rebirth set for Delivery|
- Terry Farrell the midwife of a new pedestrianised era for the famous quarter
BLOOMSBURY is set to become a haven of pedestrianised streets and out-door cafes.
Leading town planner Terry Farrell has produced a scheme that would use the area's intellectual traditions – it is famous for the literary 'Bloomsbury Group'; is the site of the British Museum and houses important sections of the University of London – as the basis for his efforts, which feature a traffic-free revamp of Bloomsbury's squares.
"You'd see student life, frontages opened up and you'd see things from the British Museum [pictured] out in the new space on the north side so you knew that the British Museum was this kind of place," said Farrell.
Farrell's Bloomsbury - The Strategic Vision is now being developed by Camden Council and is likely to be turned from draft to reality in the next few years.
