|Cruise Sets New Red-Carpet Record|
- Mission Impossible III star loves warm welcome and David Beckham
TOM CRUISE broke his own red-carpet record last night at the London premiere of Mission Impossible III.
The new dad lasted four hours shaking hands and chatting to fans on Leicester Square, smashing his previous best of three hours, set during the premiere of Collateral.
"It's been beautiful," said Cruise. "I've had a really warm welcome."
Asked about leaving his new baby, Suri, at home with wife Katie Holmes, Cruise said he had squared things with the boss. "Katie said 'everything's great at home. You should go out there', but the pilots are on standby if I need to go back."
Early reviews of the film have been mixed, but Cruise was keen to stay positive. "I love this movie," he said. "It's dynamic; intense, but romantic. We wanted to make something that made you feel better afterwards. We wanted people to feel emboldened."
One man who might feel emboldened by Cruise’s positivity is England football captain David Beckham, who is friends with the movie star.
"I've got to support my buddy," said the world’s most famous Scientologist of the upcoming World Cup. "I want to see them win."
