Support Worker - Children and Young people- Social CareDescription: We are urgently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experience Youth Support Worker (Floating), with previous experience working with children and young people and hold a NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.You must also hold a clean full driving license and have access to your own car. PERSON SPECIFICATION - Youth Support Worker Experience / Knowledge: It is essential that the post holder has: * Have at least 2 years’ experience of working with children or young people in a similar setting. * Experience/understanding of issues that young people face * Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding * Lone Working It is desirable that the post holder has: * First Aid * Basic Food Hygiene * Knowledge of relevant Child Care legislation * Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Skills and Abilities It is essential that the post holder has: * Hold a NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent * Ability to understand and engage with young people who present challenging behaviour * Communication skills * Computer skills, ability to type and complete basic office admin tasks. * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team * An ability to analyse and reflect on their practice * Ability to accept responsibility of role and be appropriately assertive * An clear understanding and commitment to equality of opportunity and diversity It is essential that the post holder has: * Full clean driving licence with access to car. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Floating Support Worker will be responsible for:- * To carry a case load of service users aged 16 – 25 years and carry out all duties as required of a support worker role in the community. * To be available to work at times appropriate to the changing needs of the Service User and for the efficient use of staff resources. * Visit Service Users in their home or place of residence as appropriate. * To assess the needs and risks as relevant to each Service User and to support them to set and attain realistic and achievable targets. * To monitor and record the Service User’s progress by a process of regular review. * To provide a range of services appropriate to the individual’s needs * To ensure that Service Users develop the skills needed to attain, maintain and sustain stable tenancies. * To promote Service User involvement and active participation in the Project. * To act as an advocate for Service Users as appropriate
