Support Worker - Brain Injury / Mental Health- Social CareDescription: Excellent opportunities have arisen for experienced Support Workers to join a Residential Service for vulnerable adults with Brain Injury and Mental Health needs. This Service is based in the East London area. Duties To be responsible for physical, emotional and social needs and well-being of vulnerable adults who may have support needs due to Mental Health / Learning Disability / Brain Injury or Substance Misuse. Service users may present with behaviours that are challenging and the job purpose would require approaching this duty in a professional, kind and respectful manner, preserving service users’ dignity and self respect at all times. Rehabilitation Associates work in the services to provide rehab and support to service users. The role requires working within a shift system that covers days nights and weekends. Our rehab associates proactively look to ways of helping a person through their recovery towards greater independence. They understand the person’s needs and goals and work within a team to help that become a reality through care and support plans, structured programmes, rehab activity and a consistent person centred approach. The most successful rehab associates have grown professionally and embraced new challenges. Many have taken up opportunities within the company for their own personal and career development. Experience and qualifications are not the most important criteria they select against, it is the attitude and enthusiasm to a commitment to make positive improvements to the service users lives. Accountabilities and Activities: 1. To participate fully in the overall care of service users including where necessary assisting with washing, dressing, continence and personal hygiene as recorded on individual care plans. To help provide essential physical and mental stimulation by participating in recreational and social activities with service users individually or in a group. 2. To deal appropriately with aggressive, violent or challenging behaviour minimising confrontation and risk to staff, service users and others. 3. To maintain accurate records in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and other associated statutory bodies. Adherence to the Health & Safety regulations and policies and procedures. 4. To have the ability and willingness to achieve statutory training or attend training identified as necessary by line manager. 5. To report any accidents/incidents relating to service users as per procedures. 6. To ensure that the company policy on confidentiality is upheld. 7. To report bad practice or harm to any Service User within the Home. 8. To carry out such other duties as may reasonably be considered as attaching to the position and within the capabilities of the post-holder. Qualifications, Training and Experience: A minimum of 6 months experience of working in a relevant care setting Good communication skills. Minimum QCF level 2 Good literacy/numeracy skills.
