Qualified Social Worker - Children in Care - South London- Social CareDescription: Qualified Social Worker - Children in Care - South London We have an exciting new position for a Qualified Social Worker to join the Children in Care team in South London. DUTIES To ensure that a clear care plan is in place which has been discussed and where possible agreed by all parties To ensure that where it is not possible for a child or young person to return to live with their family that a permanent alternative placement is provided within the relevant timescales To provide a social work service as agreed in care plans and in accordance with departmental policies and priorities and to participate in the costing, co ordination, monitoring and review of care plans in line with department procedure To assess and promote the life chances of children in care including their educational, physical and emotional health and leisure needs To maintain awareness of current legislative requirements as relating to children and to participate in relevant training To use regular supervision and staff appraisal and participate in staff meetings to ensure an effective service to users and carers and further professional development To prepare court statements when required and give evidence in court REQUIREMENTS Ability to work within a framework of legislation, guidance, Divisional policies and procedures and accountability to senior officers Ability to relate effectively to children, parents and carers, many of whom may be under stress Knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and of other relevant legislation, regulations and guidance, including Care Planning Regulations and Fostering Regulations Knowledge of the range of services which are available to children and families and of the organisational framework within which they are provided Knowledge of child development and of family functioning and dynamics Knowledge of methods of social work intervention C.Q. S.W., Dip.S.W. or equivalent. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC
