Qualified Consultant Social Worker | IRO | East London- Social CareDescription: Randstad Care is currently looking for an experienced, Qualified Consultant Social Worker/ Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to work within a Children's Safeguarding team in East London. The role requires someone that has 4 years + post qualifying experience with Children's Services (ideally Child Protection) The successful candidate will be in this post for a minimum of 3 months and receive £30.00 - £33.00 per hour. You must hold a recognised Social Work Qualification, be HCPC Registered and have worked within children's social care recently. Ideally you would have worked as an IRO previously and have had 4 years post qualifying experience. You will be required to undertake responsibility in respect of the chairing, management and administration of all reviews held under the Review of Children's Cases Regulations 1991, in respect of children looked after by the client. You will need to fulfil the responsibilities under the Independent Reviewing Officer's Guidance, Adoption & Children Act 2002. In particular, monitoring the appropriateness of the care plan and ensuring its implementation without delay. Your main duties: - To chair, in accordance with statutory requirements and guidance, reviews for all Looked After Children; ensuring that all legal and procedural requirements are adhered to - To chair reviews in a structured, effective and efficient way, ensuring all participants (including the child, parents, carers and relevant family members) are enabled to contribute effectively to the review process - To ensure that the appropriate decisions, plans & recommendations are made and that the outcome of the review is clear in respect of whether the child's day to day needs are being met and care plans are still appropriate - To ensure that appropriate and cost effective plans are developed, making use of the family's own resources and willingness to work cooperatively where possible - With appropriate support, to produce and distribute the review report within the agreed timescales - To participate in periodic inspections and audits of specified areas of work & activities - To provide independent professional and procedural advice on childcare reviews to social work and partner agency staff Essential Criteria/Knowledge: - Children Act 1989 - Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and Their Families - Independent Reviewing Officers Guidance - Adoption & Children Act 2002 - Children Act 2004 - Care Matters - Good listening, verbal and written skills - Good assessment/analytical and audit skills - Skills and ability to produce reports/notes from reviews within the required timescales - Ability to be flexible and able to work as a member of a team - Skill & ability to maintain an up to date knowledge of current policies, procedures & local and national developments You must have a recognised Qualification in Social Work, a current DBS, be registered with the HCPC and provide previous employment references covering the last 3 years You will receive good rates of pay and a professional and personable service from a specialist Consultant, who will offer professional advice on CV writing, interview preparation and interview techniques
