ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS • Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health. • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE • Previous experience of at least 5 years in Environmental Health. • Good practical understanding of financial management and operating processes and procedures and ability to input & retrieve data and ability to advise others. • Private Sector Housing experience and of supervising staff would be advantageous. • Knowledge of the legal and policy framework relating to private sector housing, Disabled Facilities Grants, Enforcement and housing renewal would be desirable. • Sound practical knowledge of building and construction practices and a basic knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation and practice would be beneficial. THE ROLE The main purpose of the role is to manage the functions of the Enforcement and Disabled Facilities Grants Team, in order to secure a healthy and safe living environment through advice, Financial Assistance (including Disabled Facilities Grants), education and enforcement of statutory provisions relating to housing conditions. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS • The flexibility to attend evening and weekend meeting if required.
