Senior Programme Support Officer- Public SectorDescription: The Senior Programme Support Officers are embedded within one or more of the programmes sub-programmes (each containing various projects broken down into workstreams) to provide project management support to the Senior Responsible Owners and Project Managers and project assurance back to the PMO. The Senior Programme Support Officers ensure that the requirements of the central PMO are met including for planning, RAID management and reporting. These are roles for individuals with very strong planning skills as well as the other project management processes of risk management, change control, dependency management, reporting etc. Main Duties/Responsibilities Working within one or more sub-programmes, projects and workstreams to provide technical project management support to the SRO / Project Manager. Ensuring the sub-programmes, projects and workstreams comply with PMO processes including by creating the required outputs, for example: Project plans Product specifications Risk and issue management information Dependencies Preparation of draft Highlight Reports for SRO approval, including gathering commentaries and assuring the content is aligned with the plans etc and has been updated since last report. Working with PMO colleagues to develop and improve PMO processes. Organising and managing Checkpoint meetings Configuration and document management Co-ordinating quality assurance for products of the sub-programmes, projects, workstreams. Outputs/Deliverables to be achieved (to include) Sub-programme and underlying project plans developed and maintained Compliance with PMO processes ensured Sub-programme reports assembled, assured and supplied to central PMO on time (info must be underpinned e.g. by plans, risk registers etc.) This is not an exhaustive list Skills / Experience Required Experience of delivering/supporting/assuring complex, large scale and time sensitive programmes, preferably within a 'hub and spoke' model. Familiar with project management methodologies; ideally evidenced by a relevant qualification. Able to produce and maintain project plans using MS Project but also present planning information in other formats to suit the audience, e.g. Visio, PowerPoint, Excel. (No over-engineering please!) Intermediate user of other standard MS Office products including MS Excel. Ability to work effectively in diverse, cross functional teams where some colleague may be more 'subject matter experts' rather than project management experts. Effective communication and networking skills with diverse stakeholders Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills Capable of working across multiple projects and workstreams Strong problem solving skills - uses own initiative In a collaborative way with PMO colleagues and other stakeholders, able to help further develop PMO processes and suggest/deliver improvements
