Project Manager- Public SectorDescription: Two project managers are required to plan and manage projects/programmes in our clients 'Redefining Family Services' programme. The Project Manager will plan, manage and implement one (or more) key programmes to ensure it deliver(s) required outcomes i.e. savings, business change, service improvement. Accountabilities • To plan, direct, and coordinate activities to manage and implement interrelated projects from proposal or initiation to final operational stage. Ensure the cohesiveness of individual project and programme plans – liaising with the Design Authority and other bodies as appropriate to ensure the effective delivery of outcomes. • Actively engage with stakeholders and partners ensuring organisational commitment to the delivery of programme benefits through the use of effective influencing skills. Understand how programme deliverables align to stakeholders ‘business as usual’ commitments, assisting them to balance competing requirements through a pragmatic and flexible approach. • Manage multiple project teams as required to ensure that they meet their objectives and address any issues as appropriate. • Develop robust governance frameworks for the constituent projects and the programme itself including project plans, risk/issue logs, and reports on programme activity for stakeholders including programme boards, executive directors, management board, scrutiny committee, cabinet. • Monitor and review programme costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, programme resources and programme risks (on behalf of the Senior Responsible Owners). Experience/Skills required: • Experience in project/programme management in local government, children's or adults services would be beneficial. • Experience of managing transformational programmes and projects, working to time, budget and quality in a large organisation • Experience of planning and managing a mixed and varied workload of conflicting priorities responding effectively to the needs of all customers • Experience of report writing and communicating complex issues to a broad range of audiences • Experience of the effective management of high value, high impact programmes and projects on time and on budget throughout the whole project life cycle. • Professional project management qualification e.g. PRINCE 2, MSP etc. (desirable)
