Our client in North London is looking for an experienced Planning Technician to ensure efficiency with regard to the validation and end-to-end processing of applications within the Directorate. As the successful candidate, your duties and responsibilities will include the following: 1. Validating applications (planning and local land charges) both in paper form and online. Entering applications into the system and contacting customer by phone, email or post to resolve any application issues. 2. Monitor, analyse and produce reports on the applications, complaints and queries as required, including identifying causes of complaints and action necessary to prevent recurrence and improve customer care. 3. Ensure that customers receive a high level of satisfaction after any dealing they have had with any member of the planning service. 4. Work closely and interchangeably with all members of the validations Team and the Fast Track and Pre-Application team. 5. Receive and log both cash and cheque payments, through drop off and face-to- face applications 6. Deal with initial requests for paid for planning services, make appointments, schedule meetings, raise invoices and collect fees. In order to be considered for this role, you MUST have the following experience and qualifications: 1. Good understanding of IT systems. 2. Customer care principles 3. Basic knowledge of relevant legislation. 4. Provision of excellent customer care services with an understanding of diversity principles, continuously driving improvement. 5. A good telephone manner and an ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to prepare reports and correspondence effectively and concisely. 6. • Experience in communication with the public and dealing with complaints and enquiries from a wide range of people in a proactive, positive and caring manner. 7. • Experience of quality and accuracy checking 8. • Experience in an administrative role 9. • Local government experience 10. • Experience in a customer service role. 11. Experience with Northgate M3 system is desirable but not essential. This role will work closely with all members of the Development management service. The post holder will need to be a self-starter who can exercise judgement, without reference to technical staff, on non-technical matters when dealing with applications and other service requests. As the post holder, you will often be in a customer-facing environment, and so will have to manage the demands of customers. This is a four month contract starting on the 25th of May 2014.
