Senior Tender Planner- ConstructionDescription: This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of FastTrack who are operating as an employment business. This main contractor is now seeking an experienced Senior Tender Planner to work in their Technical Department. • To operate a planning system in accordance with the planning procedures, providing a consistently high level of service. • To effectively and professionally develop winning tender programmes alongside bid team. In addition to be available as a planning expert to assist in other project phases as required. Accountabilities: • Working within the technical department interfacing with any/ all of commercial, design management, methods, estimating to ensure competitive yet financially viable bids are submitted. • Ensuring the company procedures and planning standards are being implemented • Liaison with broader planning community to ensure knowledge of outputs/techniques remains current • Ensuring compliance with all current Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements Key Tasks and Activities General Duties • At all times actively lead by example as a representative of the Company ensuring that all working relationships with internal and external customers are consistent and to the highest standards. • To promote the strategic aims and goals of the Company when carrying out your day to day duties and responsibilities. • To maintain regular contact with Line Management and, where appropriate, other departments, on matters affecting their own areas of responsibility. • Ensure the Company Health and Safety safe working practices are observed at all times • Comply with Company Policies and Procedures • To follow the Company's Equalities Policies in relation to other staff, customers and members of the Group, at a level appropriate to the post Specific Duties • Hands-on planning preparing, in conjunction with bid team, optimum working programme to meet project objectives covering design, procurement, enabling, construction, commissioning, handover, client key dates as appropriate. • Contributing to the capturing of project risks and proposing mitigating actions • Meeting/ communicating with supply chain specialists to confirm suitable method and programme for scope given project specific constraints • Understand the project forms of contract (with specific amendments) and ensure team are aware of actions necessary to 1) demonstrate entitlement 2) protect business from commercial harm. • Summarise project programme for “wrap up” using standard template highlighting any unresolved major risks and potential overruns, proposing buffer period for client programme. • Prepare client programme in accordance in advice from “wrap up” meeting • Ensure smooth handover and knowledge transfer to production planner on secured projects. • Maintain watching brief on secured projects to capture where bid strategy was successful (or not) • As requested assist in planning at production or claim stage. • Manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met. Highlight any potential work overload to Line Manager as soon as it is apparent. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their line manager from time to time, outside the normal sphere of work as may be reasonably requested. The job holder will be required to undertake such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of the duties required by position. Essential & desirable criteria: Essential • Experience of construction projects across a broad range of sectors (bias towards commercial, mixed use developments , schools, high end residential preferable) • Excellent time management - ability to manage multiple tender programmes running in parallel, prioritising to meet set deadlines. • Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of development; design, procurement, construction (structure, architecture, services), commissioning • Excellent communication skills; ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues and to listen and capture concerns of others • Use of specialist planning software (ideally all of Powerproject, P6, MS Project) • Knowledge of the key features of common forms of contract entered into in UK Desirable: • Knowledge of other sectors • Experience/ expertise in 4D/ BIM
