Quantity Surveyor/Estimator- ConstructionDescription: The Client Our client is a very successful Main Contractor; they are currently recruiting for a QS/Estimator on a permanent basis. This contractor carries out work throughout many disciplines from station refurbishments to new build properties. The Candidate You should have a solid construction background with experience working within the Rail & Commercial Refurbishment sectors. The candidate must have at least five years experience in these sectors. A competent, qualified and time served QS/Estimator required for a busy Main Contractor based in Essex. Must have professional qualifications as set out below and be able to supply a minimum of 2 checkable references. Skills and experience required • RICS / CIOB or other recognised Professional Membership • HND/HNC, BSc degree in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent commercial related subject • Knowledge of London Underground/Network Rail • Experience of Building / Civil Engineering construction techniques • Good knowledge of Methods of Measurement and valuation • Good working knowledge of Standard form of contracts e.g. NEC/ICE – particularly Target Cost • Full understanding of periodic cost reporting and comparison with budgets and forecasts • Experience of Subcontractor procurement from tender to award • Commercial management of contracts and subcontracts • Proficient in the use Word & Excel • Experience of cost accounting systems and effective allocation of costs • Demonstrate a proactive approach • Ability to work to deadlines The Role The job will suit an experienced QS/Estimator. Reporting to the Director, the QS/Estimator will be responsible for: • Lead the commercial and contractual administration of the contract or sections • Prepare monthly internal cost value reports, cash flows and forecasts • Taking off from drawings and specifications • Identify all additional works and evaluate additional entitlement • Preparation of monthly Applications for Payment • Attend meetings with Clients representatives, subcontractors and internally • Prepare and compile Subcontract Orders • Managing Subcontract works packages from commencement to Final Account • Provide assistance on commercial matters to the site team • To carry out any other tasks as requested by Commercial Manager / Director • To maintain and keep up to date commercial files on site • Represent the Company on all matters in a professional manner • Ensure environmental protection compliance through leading by example • Integrate environmental requirements in supply contracts and sub-contracts The Next Step To apply for this job please send your CV, professional certificates and any other supporting documents to or call Tom Mann on (Apply online only) for further information.
