Quantity Surveyor- ConstructionDescription: SUMMARY Job Title: Quantity Surveyor Department: Private Sector, Infrastructure Reporting to: Account Director Location: Lingley Mere, Warrington Hours of Work: 39 hours per week Salary: TBA Start Date: ASAP JOB OVERVIEW Europa are currently seeking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to advise on and execute all matters relating to Quantity Surveying and the ownership of the contract variation process from request through to the completion. Note: This role may require travel throughout the UK. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This role will include a variety of tasks split over two key commercial functions that are required for the account, the Facilities Management and the Project Works that are instructed under the Facilities Management Contract:- Facilities Management Contract • Understanding, administering and enforcing the terms and service levels of the Facilities Management Contract which covers a very large property portfolio, ensuring that the team and the client are clear on the provisions. • Owning the Facilities Management contract variation process from receipt of client request to costing and agreement and all the associated administrative tasks associated therein including briefing to the operation teams and cost reporting internally • Live Contract Document Control – Various appendices will require revising monthly due to the Contract Variations • Cost Control and review of all quoted reactive works from our supply chain • Monthly reporting (external (client) and internal (director)) of the status of the FM Contract variation account. Project Work • The QS function for project works within the Projects section ranging from £100k - £3m plus including but not limited to;- • Estimating and submitting quotations for project works. • Advising the client on procurement strategy • Preparation of company tender lists for approval including financial checks, preparing tender documentation and tender appraisals under the clients procurement guidelines. • Producing financial project reports for projects • Forming and administering and closing out Contracts (JCT and NEC3 forms) with our supply chain companies. • Ensuring all Subcontract Payments are correctly notified and that they comply with the act • Client valuations and ensuring payment is received • Ensuring all appropriate documentation is executed before works commence and that the necessary documentation is received before payments are released General • Attendance at client meetings (FM and Projects) and contractor meetings • Lead, deliver and display all aspects of our cultural and behaviours programme at all times to set the high standards expected from all staff within the team • At the discretion of the Account Director, such other activities as may, from time to time, be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying • At least 5 years relevant experience within the Construction Industry or FM • Good knowledge of building construction and contract documents • Experience with refurbishment projects is preferred but not essential • Experience on working within live environments is ideal but not essential • Current driving license and have the ability to travel • Good presentation skills with previous experience of presenting to client senior management teams • Experience of financial reporting to director level COMPETENCIES • NEC 3 and JCT experience ideal but not essential • Well-developed organisational and planning skills with the ability to work on several projects at once • Be up to date with relevant building legislation • High level of accuracy in recording information • Excellent IT skills • Ability to work individually, as well as part of a team • The ability to work under pressure and on own initiative • Work flexible hours when necessary to satisfy demands in workload • Financially aware with strong commercial focus applied within a large organisation • Flexibility in your approach to client and team relationships • Be capable of making decisions and bring clarity to difficult situations • Ability to work well with others and continue to deliver results under pressure • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to establish credibility quickly • Demonstrate good oral and written communication
