Forty-year-old public prosecutor Dorota uses drink as a coping mechanism, claiming that booze is her salvation. Her politician husband Jerzy manages to keep her addiction secret. Meanwhile, brilliant student Magda lets off steam by drinking to excess and her friends tolerate her behaviour until tragedy strikes. Also, hospital worker Teresa is haunted by the loss of her family to alcohol. She witnesses the impact of drinking on her patients but some of the wounded cannot be saved.
