Sinan studies at college in Canakkale, where he nurtures dreams of becoming a school teacher like his father and publishing a book of essays. The young man returns home to provincial Can where his father Idris has accrued considerable debts, bringing shame upon the family. The old man welcomes his boy with open arms and they work together on the land. In stark contrast, Sinan’s mother Asuman and sister Yasemin barely acknowledge his return since it would distract them from the television.
