Laurent Pelly directs a visually arresting production of Jules Massenet's sensual romance, which was recorded live on the stage of the Lincoln Centre For The Performing Arts in New York under the baton of conductor Maurizio Benini. Dashing student Chevalier des Grieux falls in love at first sight with country girl Manon at a tavern, only to learn that she is bound for a convent at the behest of her father. Des Grieux persuades Manon to accompany him to the French capital.
