The Metropolitan Opera Live Encore Screening: Il Barbiere Di Siviglia

Bartlett Sher’s effervescent production of Rossini’s comedy stars Peter Mattei as the charming barber, who agrees to help a count woo a beautiful young ward, in a recording of a live performance from the stage of The Metropolitan Opera House in New York. Count Almaviva hopes to woo fair maiden Rosina but he knows that her father, Dr Bartolo, would disapprove. So the Count enlists the help of the barber Figaro, who suggests that Almaviva should adopt the guise of a young soldier.
