In 1973 Los Angeles, social worker Anna Tate-Garcia is called to the home of a client, Patricia Alvarez, whose two children have gone missing. Flanked by police, Anna enters the home where she finds the boys Carlos and Tomas locked in a room for protection. The social worker dismisses the children’s pleas to leave them. Soon after, Anna discovers that Carlos and Tomas have been drowned and a distraught Patricia blames a ghostly figure called La Llorona for their grim demises.
