In 1901, political prisoner Jozef Pilsudski languishes in a psychiatric hospital in the Russian partition. Members of the underground independence movement help Pilsudski to escape so he can lead them against the conservative members of the Polish Socialist Party. In his pursuit of an independent Poland, Pilsudski rallies his troops to carry out bombings and the assassination of tsarist officials and top officers.
