NT Live: King Lear

Sir Ian McKellen reprises his role as the tortured monarch in the West End transfer of Jonathan Munby’s contemporary retelling of Shakespeare’s tragedy, which was originally designed for the intimate setting of the Minerva Theatre in Chichester. The production is broadcast live from the stage of the Duke of York’s theatre in London’s West End. Lear prepares to carve up his kingdom between his three daughters and asks his children to publicly declare their love for him.
