NT Live: Hangmen

Martin McDonagh’s first UK play in more than 10 years is a disturbing and darkly comic portrait of the second-best hangman in England, Harry Wade, who is in his favourite pub in Oldham when he learns that hanging has been abolished. The arrival of a sinister youth called Mooney stokes the tension, leading to an explosion of violence in Matthew Dunster’s acclaimed production, which broadcasts live from the stage of Wyndham’s Theatre. Strobe lighting is used during the performance.
