Shot on location throughout Europe in the locations where Monet painted, this documentary delves into the life of the French artist, who gave birth to impressionism. Based on over 2500 letters and narrated by Henry Goodman, the film attempts to shed light on the demons that drove Monet in his own words, exploring the feelings of depression, loneliness and even suicide that haunted him and how his art and love of gardening provided an escape from the darkness.
