In 1999, Detective Zhang investigates the murder and dismemberment of a truck driver, whose body parts are discovered in unconnected locations across the province. Five years later, Zhang has left the police force in disgrace and he is now working as a security guard. By chance, he crosses paths with his former superior, Captain Wang, who reveals that the police are investigating a similar murder case. This time, they have a prime suspect.
