Barbara (12A)

Barbara is a brilliant doctor working in 1980s East Germany, whose rapid ascent through the medical ranks is curtailed by a lapse in judgement. She is banished to the provinces, where she remains distant from her new work colleagues including lead physician Andre, with whom she shares a palpable sexual chemistry. Despite her iciness towards colleagues, Barbara cares deeply about her patients and as she becomes enmeshed in their day-to-day lives, she finds herself gravitating towards Andre.
