Following her formal education at a convent, Jeanne Le Perthuis des Vauds returns to the idyllic chateau owned by her father Baron Simon-Jacques. She dreams of a fairy-tale romance and hopes handsome suitor Viscount Julien de Lamare might be that white knight. The couple eventually marries.
