Show bosses are reportedly hoping to poach the US X Factor judge – who won Dancing With The Stars, the American version of the BBC One series, in 2010 – from Simon Cowell, after he lured former panellist Alesha to Britain’s Got Talent with a lucrative pay packet.

An insider told the Daily Star: “Nicole is young, sexy and knows what she’s talking about. Having already won the US dance show, her credentials are good. And taking her off Simon would be great.

“Alesha leaving could end up being a great move for the show.”

However, Nicole isn’t the only star in the running to take over the Strictly judging role.

Previous winner Kara Tointon – who is dating professional dancer Artem Chingvintsev – is currently favourite to replace Alesha, while Karen Hardy, a consultant on the BBC One show, is also said to be keen to bag the job.

Meanwhile, Arlene Phillips – who was axed from Strictly in 2009 to make way for Alesha – has reportedly been considered for a return to the panel alongside Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.

Writing on her Twitter page, she told fans: “Gosh twitter followers and friends. I am overwhelmed by your incredible tweets campaigns and facebook messages so much love and thanks. (sic)”
