The 3.30pm roof-top gig is free to all those with an ability to crane their necks, though it will also be beamed live to outdoor screens at a more manageable height.

The band, who shot to fame in the 1980s with mega-hits like Livin’ on a Prayer and You Give Love a Bad Name, are at the O2 for a 12 night stint.

It’s a long spell and those long tours are hard going, says lead singer Jon Bon Jovi.

“It’s horrible when you are away touring, it’s terrible,” he told The Mirror.

“You are away from everyone and it can be for long periods, but so are travelling salesmen and soldiers.”
