SaLon Gallery presents a collaborative exhibition between up and coming new artist Sarah Gwyer and world renowned designer Zoe Knight, open to the public today 7 May 2009.

SaLon Gallery is pleased to announce the collaboration between artist Sarah Gwyer and handbag designer Zoe Knight. Zoe has designed for esteemed fashion houses such as Chloe, Anya Hindmarch and Jimmy Choo and has since launched her own line of stunning bags. Sarah has taken a selection of these bags and hand-stitched each with beautiful beads, buttons and found gems from her ever growing collection of trinkets. Each bag is inspired by renowned fashion icons, for example the McCartney based on Stella‘s current collection and the rock and roll bling of jeweller Stephen Webster.
Sarah embraces the cross over between art and fashion, “This collection enables an aspect of my artistic practice to leave the gallery and be amongst the crowd, it provides an alternative visual experience. Most enjoyably working on fashion pieces has enabled me more freedom to unashamedly seek out pure aesthetic pleasure.”
Sarah’s current solo exhibition Masquerade features hand beaded portraits of British celebrities e.g. Kate Moss, Damien Hirst and Amy Winehouse; each work takes 3 weeks to create and features approximately 1200 hand-stitched beads. This colourful and glamorous exhibition is on until 6th June and has been drawing in many excited onlookers.
