MICHAEL JACKSON is to release a new single and album in the run up to his concerts in London this summer.

“There will be a new Michael Jackson single before the first date,” said gig promoter Randy Phillips.

“Michael has got some new music and he is looking for a new way of disseminating his material to his fans.”

One idea being looked at is to offer ticket buyers a code number that will allow them to download free Jacko tracks.

The code number system is being used for those registering to buy pre-sale tickets – ahead of Friday’s general sale launch – for the July series of concerts and has been a big success, attracting over a million people already.

Such was the online rush that speculation has mounted that the King of Pop will add more dates to the ten already scheduled.

“Nothing has been confirmed yet but those people who miss out this time will be the first to hear if there are any announcements,” said a spokesperson for the concerts’ promoter.

Another option is give away the new album for free at the concerts themselves, a promo technique pioneered by Prince at the O2 two years ago.

The This Is It concerts dates so far are the 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 22, 24, 26 and 28 of July. Tickets go on general sale this Friday, 13 March from 9.00am.
