BATTERSEA Power Station sleeps like a brooding giant most of the time, but tomorrow it gets a wake up call in the shape of Freeze, a brave mix of winter sports and music.

Running until Sunday, the event features ski-ing and snowboarding alongside big name music acts like Cypress Hill, The Automatic and The Enemy, plus apres-ski bars, an alpine-style ski village and films with a winter sport theme.

Bands and pro-snowboarders aside, the star of the show is likely to be the giant slope, made out of 500 tonnes of real snow, complete with a 30m ramp.

Serendipitously, there’s another winter sports event – the Metro Ski and Snowboard Show – going on over the river at Olympia from today (Wednesday 22nd), boasting its own ice-rink and the appearance of some cuddly husky dogs.
