The actress sued News of the World and the Sun over a number of “intrusive” articles and photos published in June and July. Amidst rumours of a relationship with married actor Balthazar Getty, photos came out showing Sienna topless on a yacht with the Brothers and Sisters star. Sienna had just broken up with actor Rhys Ifans.

Tom Crone, senior lawyer for the tabloids’ parent company News Group Newspapers, said in a letter for the papers: “We acknowledged that on the specific facts and circumstances of this case you had a reasonable expectation of privacy in respect to the information and the photographs that we published.

“We also accept that we should not have published such information or photographs.”

Sienna additionally has sued the photo agency Big Pictures (UK) for harassment and invasion of privacy, and a trial for that matter is scheduled for early next year. The High Court, at last month’s preliminary hearing, heard that the paparazzi have made her life “intolerable”.

Sienna took £15,000 in out-of-court damages over a Daily Star paparazzi shot, and in January, she won a privacy case against photographer Warren Richardson for snapping naked pictures of her while she was filming the movie Hippie Hippie Shake.

The actress settled against Xposure Photo Agency, which bought the naked photos, and News of the World and the Sun, which printed the shots in October. Xposure and News Group Newspapers paid a combined £37,500 plus court costs for the case.
