OXFORD STREET is going all out to cash in on what is normally the busiest shopping weekend of the year, with a VIP (Very Important Pedestrians) Day and Family Day.

VIP Day is on Saturday, when dangerous cars and buses are booted off London’s most famous shopping street in favour of dangerous people who like to walk while blinded by the tower of presents they’re carrying.

The no-traffic rule also applies to adjacent Regent Street and on both roads we’re promised circus performers, carol singers and surprise celebrity appearances.

Sunday has been designated Family Day and, though the traffic will be back, the line-up of entertainment goes on, with the tantalising prospect of break-dancing santas, a musical Christmas nun and walking Christmas trees, while Regent Street opts for a Victoriana theme.
