Recent troubles fail to dislodge TV chef from top spot
HE'S faced criticism of late for dumbing down his cooking craft, but Gordon Ramsay is still the only restaurateur in London to be handed the prestigious 9/10 mark from the Good Food Guide 2008.
The celebrity chef's restaurant namesake on Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea was one of only three nationwide to gain the mark for its cooking, though it missed out on top restaurant overall to the Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire.
"Gordon Ramsay's restaurant is the best in London and an unmissable experience," said Good Food Guide editor Elizabeth Carter.
Runner-up in London and sixth in the UK, with a cooking mark of 8/10, was Michel Roux's La Gavroche in Mayfair, which, according to Carter, "has really gone up a gear in the last year."
