Millennia of history on show all over town
ART spanning 5,000 years goes on show at the 10th Asian Art in London exhibition, which starts officially today.
Galleries, auction houses and museums across the capital are taking part, all contributing to an event that must have claims to be the most wide-ranging around.
Famous names such as Christie's and Bonhams auction houses and the British Museum are joined by academic institutions like the School of African and Oriental Studies and groups like the Oriental Ceramic Society to bring to London access to art and views on art that often escape our attention.
Among the events are sales of 19th and 20th Century Chinese Porcelain, a talk on 'engineering, information technology and caste in South India' and late night open evenings of a number of galleries.
Asian Art in London starts 1 November and carried through to 10 November.
