|London Eyes up Open House Weekend|
- Hundreds of venues lind up for annual weekend treat for nosey-parkers
A NIGHT FLIGHT on the London Eye for insomniac walkers is one of the early highlights of this year's Open House weekender, which starts Friday, 14 September.
The chance to go round the big wheel in the middle of the night – the only time this year a late night flight will be operated - is the reward to people who aim to walk 17 miles across London for cancer charity Maggie's.
They'll also get to see the insides of Guildhall, City Hall and Somerset House.
Organisers hope 2,000 people will take part in the Nite Hike and many thousands more are expected for the rest of the nosey-parker event, which goes on throughout the weekend and all over London with hidden gems joining famous buildings among the upwards of 600 places opening their doors to the public.
Among other highlights of Open House 2007 are Lambeth Palace, the London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the newly refurbished Brockwell Park Lido and Village Underground, a bunch of recycled Tube train carriages now home to studios for artists in Shoreditch.
