The last time the 3,300 year-old Egyptian monarch was in town, in 1972, 1.7 million people went to see his treasures, with queues stretching hundreds of metres around the British Museum.

The British Museum is involved this time, too, but as expert advisors to the new venue, the O2 Arena, formerly the Millennium Dome, which is to house 130 exhibits from King Tut's tomb. The vast majority of these are new to London as only seven of the exhibits were here 35 years ago.

For more information on the exhibition and on the boy-king himself, see our dedicated Tutankhamum page, which also has a ticket buying feature.
