|Mobiles on Tube Trains Put Back to 2009|
- Trial on Waterloo and City line starts next month
MOBILE phones won't be in use on Tube trains for another two years, at the earliest, London Underground has revealed.
The target had been set at the summer of 2008, but unforeseen technical difficulties have forced Tube bosses into a rethink.
Even for the new 2009 date to be met, LU will need to have conducted successfully several trials, the first of which is to be on the Waterloo and City Line, the system's shortest line, comprising only one stop between Waterloo and Bank stations.
The trial starts next month and is to be evaluated six months later.
