|The Queen Goes Green|
- But Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle have leaky roofs
THE QUEEN has managed to cut her carbon emissions by 12 per cent, according to the annual Royal Finance Report, which is due out today.
That reduction represents 1,000 tonnes of carbon, which is about the amount used by 100 UK citizens, or 1,000 sub-Saharan Africans in a year.
Most of the reduction has come thanks to the introduction of a combined heat and power system at Windsor Castle, which is one of the most energy-efficient generation schemes you can get. The Queen plans to bring in more green energy wheezes in the future.
As revealed in the Daily Mail, the Royal Finance Report also details the deteriorating state of some of Her Majesty’s Palaces, including Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace, where the roofs are in a bit of a state.
It is thought the Queen wants more cash from the government, to the tune of UKP1 million a year, to help fix the problems. Maybe she brought up the subject when anointing Gordon Brown as Prime Minister yesterday?
