|Dog Found, Lily Allen Can Smile Again|
- Maggie May has fleas but at least she's home
LILY ALLEN has been reunited with Maggie May, the bull terrier which was stolen from the back of a van just after Christmas.
The singer, whose hits include LDN, Littlest Things and Smile, said she was "overjoyed" at the outcome of a strange case that began on 28 December with the abduction of Allen's pet dog from the back of her friend's van parked in Forest Gate.
Allen revealed on her MySpace page that she had received a call from a man who said he had unknowingly bought her dog. After paying a reward, Allen got Maggie May back, but now feels she may have been hoodwinked.
"Now I feel guilty for having given these people money and contributing to their cruel business but I love that dog and felt I had no choice," said Allen. "These people were obviously in the business of moving dogs."
Allen also had a few words of disdain for those who had blamed her for the dog's loss. "People have been speculating that because Maggie was thin and had fleas she must have run away. But Maggie was tied up and in her cage in the back of a van and could not have escaped: she was stolen."
