| The Queen Invites Dame Helen Mirren to Tea - Oscar winner gets Palace call for role in The Queen IN HER Oscar acceptance speech, The Queen star Dame Helen Mirren toasted the Queen last night and is now set for a favour in return as Her Majesty is to invite the veteran actress to tea at Buckingham Palace.Mirren seemed surprised at the idea - "I'm not expecting a call from Her Majesty," she said - but sources close to the Palace suggest otherwise. Perhaps Mirren's coyness has been influenced by news that recent invites to Buckingham Palace have included Jacqueline Gold, the boss of the Anne Summers chain of sex toy shops. Firm favourite for the Best Actress award for the film The Queen, Mirren's was the only award for a movie nominated in several categories.Further British film success came in the form of American actor Forrest Whitaker, who claimed the Best Actor prize for The Last King of Scotland, but the night's big winner was The Departed, which gained Martin Scorcese his first Best Director gong, as well as the Best Film award.
