Gordon Ramsay Loses Out in Restaurant Awards
- But Harden's hand main gong to place that's part of TV chef's group

Gordon Ramsay Loses Out in Restaurant Awards. Picture courtesy of Eriki restaurantGORDON RAMSAY has been knocked off his perch as London’s top chef… by one of his own staff.

Marcus Wareing won the Highest Overall Rating prize in Harden's annual awards, for his restaurant Petrus, part of the Gordon Ramsay group of eateries which includes his eponymous place in Chelsea, The Narrows pub in Docklands and restaurants in New York and, soon, Paris and Tokyo.

It is that stretch of his talent that Harden's reckons might be behind Ramsay's slippage in the awards charts - the TV chef also lost the Highest Food Rating gong to Chez Bruce of Wandsworth Common.

"I think there is a tension between doing the right thing as a businessman and the right thing as a chef," said Peter Harden, co-editor of the famous restaurant guide.

"A businessman is concerned with spreading the brand name while your stereotypical chef is driven by the love of spending his life in a kitchen, rather than in front of the television cameras."
