|Take That Join the Stars for Diana Concert|
- 'She was an amazing woman,' says Mark Owen
TAKE THAT are the latest act to be announced for the Concert for Diana on 1 July at the new Wembley stadium.
"Princess Diana was such an amazing woman," said Take That's Mark Owen. "I think it's lovely the princes want to do something to remember her."
The boyband revivalists will be joined by the likes of Bryan Ferry, Duran Duran and Joss Stone, as well as some of the cast from Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals and dancers from the Royal Ballet.
The concert has been organised by Diana's two sons, Princes William and Harry, who are determined the night should reflect their mother's fun side, despite the event being a commemoration of the tenth anniversary of her death as well as what would have been the Princessís 46th birthday.
"We want it to represent exactly what our mother would have wanted; how she was and all that sort of thing," said heir-to-the-throne William.
"We wanted to have this big concert full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted. The idea is we wanted to get artists that our mother really loved, and then artists that both Harry and I enjoy.
"It's got to be the best birthday present she ever had."
All tickets made available so far have been sold out, but some more will be put on sale after Easter.
