Diwali Comes to Trafalgar Square
- Festival of Light to draw thousands for start of celebrations

Diwali Comes to Trafalgar Square, copyright Hayley MaddenMUSIC, dance, food and, of course, plenty of lights go on display at Trafalgar Square this weekend as the annual Diwali festival begins.

Things get going at 4.00pm on Sunday with prayers for peace followed by a bumper line-up of music and dance, including performances by Kalakaar, Raghav and the Saraswati Dance Academy. All around there will be a mass of lights and lanterns and a variety of food stalls.

Diwali the Festival of Light - is a Hindu New Year festival, also celebrated by Sikhs and Jains. The celebration lasts for at least five days up until the New Year proper.
