| Take a Lucky Dip into the Art World - Postcard lotto could net riches for shrewd judges DIRT-CHEAP works by big name artists like Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin are to go on sale at the Royal College of Art from 25 November.Obviously there's a catch and it's that the works of the famous are mingled in with those of hundreds of other artists, many of them students, in a lucky dip. You choose your work – a postcard-sized original - pay UKP35 and only get to know who’s the artist when you turn over and read the signature on the back. That's why it's called RCA Secret. Viewing of the postcards takes place from today, 17 November, and continues up to the start of the sale next weekend. The idea is that visitors use their judgement to spot either the valuable work of current stars of the art world or of those ready to rise to fame and fortune in the future. Now in its 13th year, RCA Secret, through the sale of the postcards, raises money for the college. More info, opening times etc. here |
