|Blairís Muslim Police Guard was Victim of a Witch Hunt, Says Brief|
- Officer sacked because his kids heard militant preacher
ONE of Tony Blair's police guards was removed from duty because his kids had witnessed the speeches of a militant preacher, it has emerged.
PC Amjad Farooq was refused security clearance to continue working in the Diplomatic Protection Group SO16 in 2003 after an investigation revealed his young sons, aged 11 and 9, had visited a Mosque local to them where a militant Islamist was the Imam.
Farooq was promptly removed from the DPG and sent to work in Hammersmith. He is now claiming religious discrimination in an industrial tribunal case that might throw some light onto the shadowy world of the Security Vetting Appeal Panel, ultimately headed by Blair himself.
However, though it is possible the panel's legal representatives will claim 'national security' as a reason not to open up their files.
"Muslims are labelled guilty by association," said Farooq's solicitor, Lawrence Davies. "They are assumed guilty. We are close to living in the days of Salem. If the head of counter-terrorism becomes a Witch-Finder General then any Muslim or Muslim-looking person or sympathiser best take cover."
