James Brown Sent to the Tower

James Brown Sent to the Tower.  Image: Copyright James Brown Enterprises 2006.GODFATHER of Soul, James Brown, is to play a summer concert at the Tower of London, it has been confirmed.

The 72 year-old singer is just one of the stars set to play outside the Tower's walls in front of crowds ranged in the grassed-over moats. Others include Jeff Beck, the Pet Shop Boys, Madeleine Peyroux and Dionne Warwick.

"The Tower of London is one of the world's most famous and spectacular fortresses and one of the capital's most prominent landmarks," said a spokesperson for the event, scheduled from the 28th of June 28 to the 14th of July. "Now it will provide the backdrop for London's newest and most exciting summer festival."
